Introducing,...Kelly Robbins

She works as a Personal Trainer at Crossgates Athletic Club in Slidell, LA .  This allows her to motivate others and train at a facility that is "Disneyland" for fitness enthusiasts!  Kelly has been in the fitness industry for more than 20 years.  Beginning in the 80's she taught group exercise.  Later she moved into gym management along with teaching and training.  For the last 7 years, while exclusively personal training, Kelly's clientele has grown tremendously.  Both one on one training and small group training are equally pleasurable.

Many unexpected changes have befallen Kelly.  Like many in South Louisiana she was affected by Hurricane Katrina in a HUGE way.  Crossgates Athletic Club has two locations in Slidell.  The Pontchartrain Drive location, which is close to Lake Pontchartrain, was inundated with 5 feet of water.  Kellys' home, literally on the shore of the lake was reduced to a slab.  With nowhere to live and no clients to train Kelly was forced to seek temporary employment in Baton Rouge.  The staff at Foxy's Raquetball and Fitness welcomed Kelly with open arms.  The three months spent in Baton Rouge were hard, but the members and staff at Foxy's made it feel almost like home!  When called back to her former position she returned to Slidell and Crossgates.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Kelly Robbins has been a competitor since 2000.  Beginning in bodybuilding as a 116 pound, 5'5" lightweight, she won or placed high in many National Qualifiers.   National Level Competitions were a disappointment.  Most of the female competitors seemed to be "chemically altered".  Finally in 2006 Kelly made the decision to switch to Figure (at 123 lbs, contest ready).  What started as a "cheesy" bathing suit contest was now a real "muscle girl" contest.  Hooray for change!  The contests chosen for 2007 were the hardest, biggest  contests around. The goal was Nationals, but not the easy way.  At the contests chosen, probably 1/3 of the girls looked "National ready".

Contests for 2006 were:

#1  -  March 31st  - The Natural Ohio NPC National Qualifier - A SUPER FANTASTIC and well run show!  - A disappointing 6th place overall finish and 4th place Masters placing.  Still not bad for my first show as a figure competitor.

#2  -  April 14th  -  NPC Southern USA Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure, Panama City Beach, FL  -  Very large show!  Again a disappointing 6th place finish.

#3  -  June 2nd - NPC Southern Classic, Jackson, MS.  Another big and well run show.  Disappointing 8th place finish!  At the after party Kelly approached head judge Al Johnson and said "You called out the top 5 and left me in the back row looking at "CHEESE"  on the back of two competitors' legs.  What was that all about?"  He replied, "Well it made their legs look symetrical.  Your legs are too skinny!"  SKINNY???!!! Look out Al, Kelly is training legs like a demon!  You be the judge.  Look at Kelly's pictures and see if those legs look "skinny" to you!  More pics on MuscularDevelopment.com.  Thanks a million to National Figure competitor Mandy Polk who sat down at the after party and told Kelly, "I don't know what happened.  You have what they're looking for!"

#4  -  August 11th - NPC Europa Super Show - A HUGE and fantastically organized show - Many National quality competitors.  This show was done on the advice of Mandy Polk.  Again, a disappointing 6th place finished.  From the comparison photos of this show it is hard to understand the placing.  Obviously they were not rewarding "ripped and ready!"
All competitors realize that Kelly missed Nationals this year by one placement (top 5 go!).  GOALS?  BRING UP THOSE LEGS!!!  Wait until next year!!
